| Very pleasant hotel, great location as it is next to the British Museum and 5-10 walking mins from 2 underground stations and Oxford Street. The rooms are of good sizes, comfortable, very tidy and cleaned. It is well decorated although particularly not my taste. The negative points are, there were no internet in the room even though it was advertised and the not all the staff is very attentive to the customers. |

| A very nice hotel with friendly & helpful staff. Rooms tastefully decorated to suit style of building. The location was great being within easy walking distance of the theatre we were going to. | |

| I stayed at the Whitehall Grange Hotel at the end of September 2002 to attend a week long school. I needed a location that was close to my close, Central London, and provided a quiet respite. The reservation process was smooth and they had our room ready when we arrived. I had approximately $230 a night to spend which equated to 150 GBP. I requested a double room. Upon entering the room on the third floor, I had to turn sideways to get past the bed. The room was so full of furniture; there was hardly any floor space. I can appreciate the storage space but the downside was the feeling of a shoebox. The decorator didn't read the color scheme book and made all the decorations very dark. The overall effect was that we were in the darkest smallest corner of the hotel. We proceeded to unpack and settle in to sleep. The mattress was rotten and we didn't really get any sleep. The following morning I reported my frustrations to the manager. They were very polite and moved us to a 'larger' room. This new room was on the second floor which was good because it had 10 ft ceilings as well as lovely decorating and lighter colors. The room was actually the same size, but without all the excess furniture. It was a good trade-off though as it is much more comfortable than being squished. Sadly the lack of storage meant that we would only hang our clothes for the next day, but it was a minor inconvenience. We later found out that they moved us to a Double Executive for the same price. As we lay down to sleep, my wife quickly nodded off but I was left struggling to try and keep from rolling off the mattress. It too was rotten and the worst was that it had a heavy slope so that I really had to fight to keep from rolling out and onto the floor. I eventually rolled the extra blanket up and laid it under the mattress along its length to create a chocking or speed bump effect. The next morning we awoke to no toiletries. Though this may seem inconsequential, it is frustrating to not even have soap to wash you hand when spending over $200 per night. Oddly enough, when we did have soap, the cleaning staff through it away without replenishing it. Adding to the rough mattress making hard nights sleep were the windows. The room has storm windows in addition to the double-hung primary. Both are needed to be shut due to all the road noise--it is central London. The storm windows refused to stay closed and kept opening under their own weight. Additional negative points were that though the English breakfast is included, it cannot be deducted from the cost of the room in case you have an early flight and at a posted price of 15 GBP ($22) per person, you really hate to waste it. The breakfast served buffet style which equates to most of the items being cold. Last negative bit is that the blankets and coverlets were not very clean. The spares in the closet were nicer so we swapped. To be fair, let me say a few positives. The staff, all in all, is very friendly and eager to please. The room service is very inexpensive and good. My wife and I could eat in our room for as much, if not less, than at most of the local pubs. The hotel decor is very nice and inviting. |

| I stayed here 3 nights with my family during my late summer vacation in early September. The hotel is nicely located and staffed with good people. My 2 year old son was very happy to say 'hello' to the old bell man.(Thanks! Can you hear me?) But there was no refrigerator in my twin room. That's why I had to ask ice every night to keep milk cold for my kid. |

| Very pleasant hotel. Excellent late deal meant we had a wonderful couple of nights. Staff friendly and jovial and very well-appointed room. Small and cosy but extremely comfortable. Tried to stay again later in the year but sold out - that must be saying something!! | |
